Slow Down, It's Not Rush Hour!
First we've gotta get it done yesterday, now we can take our time. Of course I'm referring to all the legislation the Democrat controlled legislature has wanted to advance this past year. Omnibus spending, now, now, now! The American people can't wait for us to spend all this money, and don't really want to know what it's for. Stimulus, gitter done now! We cannot wait a single day on getting our brand of health care reform passed either. Now, now, now! Some people even went so far as to pony up ways around the possible loss of the filibuster proof majority. We'll just pass the Senate version. A flawed bill is better than no bill some said, please. Now with the loss of a singular seat (so far), the speaker of the house is telling us all "we're not in a big rush on health care". She also said "pause, reflect". I see the potential for a ground swell type of uprising from the ranks of independents and Republicans alike. Hopefully it won't harken back to the days of getting absolutely nothing accomplished with push you, pull me style debates. Either way, I'm glad we can take a step back and think about small step style health care reform. Allowing individuals to purchase insurance outside state lines. Stopping the outlandish settlements with some sort of TORT reform. And just maybe, small business owners could be allowed to pool together to lessen risk and take advantage of the economy of scale. Slow reform that doesn't mortgage our futures. Hey, it's not rush hour!
