Sovereignty Much?
Here's my bottom line take on an Israeli - Palestinian peace accord, "If the Palestinians lay down their weapons, there will be no fighting. If the Israelis lay down their weapons, there will be no Israel". Israel is the last stumbling block in the Middle East preventing the beginning of an Islamic Caliphate. Some may say we, The United States, provide to much aid to Israel. Whether it's straight financial, military, humanitarian or otherwise. Believe me, all that needs to happen is for Israel to fail as a state and the Muslims will be wholeheartedly convinced that it's their birthright to conquer the world. That being said, once control of the Gaza Strip was given back to the Palestinians, Hamas quickly moved in and turned into no more than a giant launching pad for rocket attacks on Israel. Indiscriminate shelling of neighborhoods and civilians. Thus began the blockade of the strip to insure is was no longer a pathway for weapons into Palestinian territories. I won't apologize for Israel doing all they can to protect their borders and citizens (unlike the U.S.). This includes the naval blockade of the Gaza seaports. Israel made it abundantly clear, "we will enforce this blockade". Do you think for one minute that the "activists" trying to run the blockade didn't know full well what would happen? They were counting on it! Clearly a martyrdom tactic to throw a bad light on Israel because they knew Israel would defend it militarily. As a sovereign nation they have every right and obligation to do this. I only wish we had a government that saw us more as a sovereign nation. You know, with actual borders and stuff!
