Hiding in Plain Sight

When is bribery, bribery? Does monetary remuneration need be involved? I ask because I sense bribery going on right under our collective noses. Recently here in Milwaukee we had a County Supervisor charged with (alleged) bribery. This was the classic manila envelope stuffed with bills (marked) kind of bribery. Yeah, it sure looks like bribery to me. A back door deal to get a financial firm's bid put on the County Board's agenda and approved. It sure smells like bribery, even to the point of saying "I was gonna return it!" By the way, just for you unindoctrinated to bribery, you need to accept it to be able to return it. This "pay for play" scheme wasn't unveiled until the sting had gone down. You would never have known about it if not for the authorities setting up the sting and exposing it to the light of day. Not so quick, Wisconsin Democrats don't play that way! So full of themselves are these party faithful, they don't even feel the need for any cloak and dagger style back room politics. They're accepting bribes and spewing it forth for all to hear on the radio and TV. Of course I'm talking about the vote whore from Madison, Kathleen Falk. Would you not look slightly sideways at a potential candidate if they said their first order of business once in office was to change the State's automobile fleet to Fords? How about if Ford Motor Company came out publicly that they were prepared to bankroll this candidate's campaign? Oh, and Ford would also promise to have all their employees vote for this candidate. Huh?, that doesn't really pass the smell test, does it? Let's get rid of Ford and insert WEAC (Wisconsin Education Association Council), soon to be followed by AFSCME. Falk was not only hand picked by these unionistas, they went so far as to personally visit Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barret and ask him to stand down! Well, it's fully expected that every bit of legislation that doesn't favor unions will be slapped down if she were elected. Mandatory union membership for state employees, no choice. The State actually collecting and forwarding dues for the unions. Union bosses making all members pay into political funds for their specified candidates (those who bow to the unions, of course). Well, it's not money, but like I said earlier, does it have to be? I mean, propping up a candidate who'll do your bidding like a puppet to get you back on the taxpayers gravy train. Sounds like, looks like, smells like, it must be. I'm just glad I didn't step in it!
